A Little Wicked's Op-Ed: Wicked Chicks Should Learn How To Sew!

Hi Ladies!!
So I was having a convo the other day about the store and how we re-work most of our items, and the lovely lady I was talking to looked at me completely dumbfounded when I suggested that she too could
rework some of her vintage items.
I wasn't talking about MAJOR alterations, just fun adjustments that could give new life to an old piece, like maybe cutting a hem turning a maxi dress to a smart mini; or even just changing buttons on a winter coat to update the piece.
This stylish dame seriously knew her way around a vintage store and had loads of fashion sense, but when it came to any kind of sewing skills, well, that's where she got of the bus, so to speak.
I have had this response a lot of the years when I talk about the in's and outs of vintage buying. People are totally with me, until I suggest they actually have to do the most minor of alterations, and then they break out into hives!
I know so many babes in my generation didn't grow up sewing, as our mom's often worked full time and didn't impart those skills. Fair enough, but you know we do have to take responsibility as adults, and I firmly suggest that ladies across America (and beyond)
learn at LEAST simple sewing skills. Like replacing a button or sewing a hem.
There are tons of classes across the country
, like
Make in NYC, where you can learn the basics and beyond.
It is soo fun and empowering, and it would expand your wardrobe exponentially on a little budget—how cool is that??
So ladies, lets bring back sewing circles, and create some wicked creations, shall we??
xxooo, Robyn & Bianca
